UNU-WIDER, the United Nations University's development economics institute in Helsinki, hosts registered PhD students for three months to work on their thesis research on developing economies alongside its resident researchers. Fellows receive a travel grant, medical insurance and a monthly stipend of EUR 2,100 for living costs in Helsinki, and present a seminar on their findings before returning to their home university.
