About this opportunity

The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), a public university in Queensland, Australia, funds international students to study a full-time, on-campus PhD starting or continuing in 2027. The scholarship pays a living stipend and your tuition fees for up to three years. Research in any field is welcome as long as it lines up with one of UniSQ's flagship research areas, and you need a UniSQ supervisor on board before you apply.

What you get:

A stipend of AUD $39,000 per year
Tuition fees paid by UniSQ for up to three years of full-time equivalent study, with any study already completed towards the degree deducted
Stipend and fees are awarded together as one scholarship, applied for in a single application
An optional Industry Stream with a mandatory 60-day industry internship, which needs a Letter of Support from an industry partner

What you'll do:

Study full-time, on campus, in the Doctor of Philosophy programme at UniSQ
Carry out a research project aligned with one of UniSQ's flagship research areas, chosen with your supervisor
Apply separately for admission to the PhD itself; admission is a different process from the scholarship and must be started to be eligible
If you take the Industry Stream, complete a 60-day internship with an industry partner you or your supervisor identify

Key dates:

Scholarship applications close 27 September 2026
Scholarship outcomes are usually sent within six weeks of the closing date
An awarded scholarship stays valid for 12 months from the date it is awarded
PhD admission applications take a minimum of 25 working days to process, so start that separately and early
