Third Wave Fund runs a rapid response fund for gender justice groups in the United States that need money fast. Who can apply

  • Open to gender justice organisations, groups and coalitions, not to individuals
  • Must be based in the United States or a US territory
  • Group or organisation annual budget must be under $500,000
  • Must be responding to a specific incident or change in circumstance from the last six months that forces a significant pivot from planned work
  • Your analysis must connect the issue to patriarchy, transphobia, homophobia, gender inequity or gender based violence
  • Not for budget shortfalls, ongoing programmes, start up costs, fundraising, or long term campaigns beyond six months
  • 501c3 status and fiscal sponsorship are not required, and groups without either are prioritised
  • Gender justice organisations, groups and coalitions based in the United States or a US territory, not individuals. Third Wave Fund states plainly that projects led by individuals are not prioritised. Groups must have an annual budget under $500,000, and the fund prioritises groups whose leadership is rooted in and accountable to communities directly affected by gender oppression. Groups without 501c3 status or fiscal sponsorship, and groups in areas with little access to philanthropy, are prioritised.
