About this opportunity

The PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival is an annual initiative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) that invites young people worldwide to submit original, creative short videos addressing themes of migration, diversity, social inclusion, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, countering hate speech and disinformation, and the prevention of xenophobia and discrimination. Open to filmmakers no older than 25 years old at the time of production, the festival welcomes participants of all nationalities. Entrants must be actively involved in the making of their video—as a director, writer, camera operator, editor, actor, or coordinator—and the video must reflect the young filmmaker's own perspective on the stated themes. Videos may be submitted via streaming platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo, or through file-hosting services like Google Drive or Dropbox. Recipients of International Jury Distinctions and Special Recognitions are invited, all expenses paid, to attend the PLURAL+ Awards Ceremony—historically held in New York—where travel and accommodation for one representative per video are covered. In the case of participants under 18, an adult chaperone's expenses are also covered. The festival recognizes youth as powerful agents of positive social change and supports the distribution of youth-produced media to foster greater tolerance and understanding globally. The submission deadline for the 2026 edition is June 30, 2026.

Who can apply

Open to young people of all nationalities
Entrants must be no older than 25 years old at the time of the production of their video
The person submitting the video must be actively involved in its making (e.g. director, writer, camera person, editor, actor, coordinator, etc.)
Video must focus on themes of migration, diversity, social inclusion, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, countering hate speech, disinformation/misinformation, and combating xenophobia and discrimination
Video must reflect the perspective of the young filmmaker(s)
Anyone can appear in the video regardless of age, but the filmmaker(s) must be 25 or under
Immediate family members of UNAOC staff and PLURAL+ International Jury members are not eligible
Submissions must be completed by 30 June 2026, 5:00pm EDT; late entries not accepted
Video must be submitted via a publicly accessible link (YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
