About this opportunity

Peacebuilders Canada is a Toronto charity that has spent over twenty years using restorative justice to keep young people out of the court system and engaged in school. Its Youth Ambassador Program trains high school students as peer leaders, then backs each of them to plan and run a workshop or initiative in their own school community. Ambassadors get mentorship from Peacebuilders staff throughout and are paid for the work.

What you get:

Three honorariums of $500 each across the programme
Training in restorative practices, anti-oppression and facilitation
Bi-weekly one-on-one mentorship sessions with Peacebuilders staff, 30 minutes to an hour each
Staff support to design and deliver your own workshop or initiative
Leadership and transferable skills built through group training

What you'll do:

Take part in training on restorative practices, anti-oppression and facilitation
Attend bi-weekly and monthly sessions that build leadership and transferable skills
Act as a peer leader, modelling restorative approaches in your school and community
Plan and deliver a workshop or initiative on leadership and conflict resolution, with staff support
Stay in regular communication with Peacebuilders staff and contribute to programme evaluation
Commit a minimum of 10 hours a month, including a two hour monthly group meeting
