The Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden, funds a one-month research stay for students and researchers working on Africa in the social sciences or humanities. You get travel, free accommodation and a daily allowance, plus a desk at the Institute, access to its library collections on contemporary Africa, and a research host on the NAI staff.   • Affiliated to and based at a university or research centre in Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Iceland, both at the time of application and during the stay

  • Not open to anyone currently or previously employed by or otherwise professionally affiliated with the Nordic Africa Institute
  • Required documents: up-to-date CV including any publications; 3 to 5 page outline of the research project (objective, method and time frame, theoretical basis); 1 page work plan specific to the stay; signed letter of support from your supervisor or head of department confirming affiliation and field
  • Application and appendices must be in English
