Develop for Good, Bloomberg, CodeDay and Fast Forward have put together a founding cohort for nonprofits that want to turn a piece of their own software into a public open source tool. A selected organisation gets a team of eight trained college student developers for sixteen weeks, weekly mentorship from Bloomberg employee volunteers and open source guidance from CodeDay, and pays nothing for any of it. **What you get:** - A team of 8 vetted and trained college student volunteer developers dedicated to your project for 16 weeks, roughly 800 hours of technical work - Weekly check-ins run by Develop for Good, plus technical, project management and team coaching support - Open source best-practices guidance from CodeDay - Weekly guidance from experienced Bloomberg employee volunteers - A finished output that is publicly accessible, licensed and documented - All of it at no cost to your organisation **What you'll do:** - Bring a tool or project you are ready to open source, or an existing open source project you want support contributing to - Give about 2 to 3 hours a week for 16 weeks from a point of contact at your nonprofit - Work with the team to convert the tool to open source, build out its documentation, or contribute upstream **Key dates:** - Applications close September 9, 2026 - Selected nonprofits notified October 2, 2026 - Programme kickoff October 25, 2026 - Final delivery February 20, 2027 **More information:** - Questions go to Michael Gabrielle, Nonprofit Partnerships Manager at Develop for Good, michael@developforgood.org - Develop for Good's standard 16-week batches carry a flat service fee of $1,000.
