The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study and the Dutch Foundation for Literature run a writer-in-residence fellowship that has been going since 1999. The 2026 to 2027 edition is open only to established literary writers based in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. One writer is chosen. They spend February to July 2027 in Amsterdam, working full time on their own literary project inside an interdisciplinary academic community. What you get: ➤ A personal stipend of EUR 3,500 per month for five months ➤ Reimbursement of an international return flight ➤ Subsidised accommodation in Amsterdam ➤ A private office at NIAS, plus library and research facilities ➤ Membership of the NIAS fellow community and its weekly academic seminars ➤ Access to outreach programmes and community activities What you'll do: ➤ Work full time on your own literary research or writing project from February to July 2027 ➤ Be present at the Institute four working days a week for the whole fellowship ➤ Take part in weekly seminars, workshops and informal exchange with scholars from other disciplines ➤ Submit a project proposal and motivation, a bibliography of your literary work, and a digital copy of a recent publication
