ICANN, the nonprofit that coordinates the Internet's domain name system, takes a small group of university students to each of its Public Meetings through the NextGen@ICANN Program. This round is for ICANN88, the Community Forum in Lisbon, Portugal, from 13 to 18 March 2027, and it is open only to students living and studying in ICANN's Europe region. ICANN books and pays for economy airfare and a hotel room, adds a stipend of up to US$500, and gives each participant a mentor and a set of courses beforehand. Who can apply

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate or doctoral student
  • Aged between 18 and 30 at the time of the ICANN meeting
  • Currently living and studying in ICANN's Europe region, the region hosting ICANN88
  • Interested in Internet governance, the future of the Internet and other topics covered at ICANN meetings
  • Able to attend the ICANN88 Community Forum in Lisbon and all required events, and to participate actively
  • Willing to present a five to ten minute project at the meeting, on your research, thesis or an ICANN related activity
  • An ICANN Account is required to reach the application portal
  • The application form must be written in English; supporting documents may be in other languages
