About this opportunity

Social Resonance Lab is a nonprofit research studio in Atlanta that studies how storytelling can be done ethically. Its first Mycelia cohort picks two people who already run a storytelling or arts and humanities project and pays them to push that work further over eight weeks, remotely, from November to December 2026. It is deliberately not for new ideas: the money and the advising go into something already underway.

What you get:

A $2,000 stipend
Direct advising from the Social Resonance Lab team, covering project management, evaluation, communications and design, and community storytelling
Advisory support from the Lab's board and advisors
Visibility for your project through the Lab's networks, its Substack and its podcast

What you'll do:

Deepen, refine, document, extend or scale a project you are already running, under one of two tracks: Arts as a Civic Tool, or AI and the Digital Landscape
Write one piece for the Social Resonance Lab Substack
Appear as a guest on one episode of the Lab's new podcast series on ethical storytelling
Co-lead a workshop, giving a 30 minute presentation on your work and taking questions from other practitioners and the public
Join a small working group the Lab calls Collective Calls, plus a virtual kickoff and semi-regular check-ins

Key dates:

Applications close September 13, 2026 at 11:59 pm EDT

More information:

Two fellows are selected, one in each thematic track

Worth checking yourself

!United States residents only. You need a US bank account and have to complete a W-9 tax form, which is easy to miss because the programme is otherwise fully remote.
!Only two places, so it is highly competitive.
!It is aimed at someone with an established practice in storytelling, arts or civic work rather than someone just starting out.
!Their main website still points at a closed form for an older fellowship. Use the link here, which goes to the live one.
