About this opportunity

The Lisbon AI Safety Hub (LAISH), a nonprofit community based at ISCTE in Lisbon, runs a free eight-week, in-person fellowship introducing the risks of advanced AI and practical ways to help bring about safe AI. It is non-technical and built for students and working professionals living in Lisbon. Sessions run every Tuesday evening from October 6, 2026, with coursework based on the AI Safety Atlas on a platform built by Lens Academy.

What you'll do:

Attend an in-person session every Tuesday, 6 to 8pm, in Lisbon for eight weeks from October 6, 2026
Complete around 2 hours of readings and coursework per week plus 2 hours of in-class discussion
Work through why AI safety matters, the main risks of advanced AI, and how governance and policy can help
Identify practical ways to contribute through your career, studies, research, policy or community work

More information:

All sessions are in person in Lisbon, about a 10 minute walk from Entrecampos station and ISCTE; remote participation is not possible
LAISH cannot provide visa support or any financial support for accommodation, travel or other expenses
An English and a Portuguese-language track are offered; LAISH strongly encourages applying for the English track where possible
Applications must be written without AI; LAISH says any application detected as AI-written will be rejected
