Land is Life is a global coalition of Indigenous Peoples working on self-determination and collective rights across all seven sociocultural regions of the world. Its Indigenous Women's Program has run this year-long fellowship since 2023, and more than 15 women have delivered community projects through it. Who can apply

  • Indigenous women between 18 and 35 years old
  • Open to Indigenous women from all seven sociocultural regions of the world
  • Able to speak fluently in English, French or Spanish
  • Must not have been a former Land is Life fellow
  • Priority is given to Indigenous women who do not hold a master's or doctoral degree
  • Priority is given to applicants from countries not previously selected. Countries already represented are Indonesia, Tanzania, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Kenya, Mali, Philippines, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nepal, Mexico and Bolivia. Land is Life states this as a priority, not an exclusion, so applicants from those countries are still eligible
  • A community project proposal aligned with the programme's central themes
  • A letter of recommendation from an Indigenous Peoples organisation, a representative or leader from your territory, or an equivalent official source
  • Young Indigenous women who are already driving change in their own communities and have a project they want to deliver, on land rights, climate, food sovereignty, health, livelihoods or governance.
