The Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities in Essen takes in a cohort of international fellows each year to spend six months on their own research. The 14th cohort runs 1 April to 30 September 2027. You get EUR 3,000 a month, an office, a library and admin support, and time to finish a book, land a grant or set up a research group, in exchange for showing up and taking part in the life of the institute. What you get: ➤ EUR 3,000 a month before tax for six months, intended to cover rent, insurance and living costs ➤ Possible partial reimbursement of your arrival and departure travel ➤ Office space, technical support and library services ➤ Event management, research management, administrative and communications support ➤ A place in the colloquium, lectures, conferences and reading groups ➤ Access to the University Alliance Ruhr, linking Duisburg-Essen, Bochum and Dortmund ➤ A possible chance to organise a workshop, depending on resources and scheduling What you'll do: ➤ Pursue your own research project linked to KWI's agenda. Finishing a book, a special issue, a grant proposal or setting up a research group all count. ➤ Be present at the institute at least three days a week ➤ Take part in the colloquium, lectures, conferences and reading groups ➤ Write for the KWI Blog ➤ Sit entry and exit interviews ➤ Credit KWI in any publications that come out of your residency
