The IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Specialist Group is offering a limited number of travel grants so that people working on human-wildlife coexistence can attend its second international conference, held in Bangkok from 2 to 4 March 2027. You apply for one form of support only: your conference registration waived or reimbursed, or US$500 or US$1,000 in cash towards travel costs. You do not need to have registered for the conference, or to be presenting at it, before you apply. **What you get:** - One of three forms of support, and you choose which one you apply for - Conference registration waived, or reimbursed if you have already paid, which the organisers price at US$295 to US$600 depending on your country of residence and whether you are a student - Or US$500 towards your travel costs - Or US$1,000 towards your travel costs, which is not offered to applicants based in 18 South and Southeast Asian countries and territories named on the application form - Travel funding is paid in cash, in person, in Bangkok on 3 March 2027, confirmed by an award letter beforehand - Registration itself covers all main conference sessions, refreshments twice a day, three lunches and the conference reception **What you'll do:** - Attend the 2nd International Conference on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence in Bangkok, Thailand, from 2 to 4 March 2027 - Spend three days with governments, NGOs, intergovernmental organisations, Indigenous and local community representatives, the private and development sectors and universities - Take part in symposia, panels, interactive sessions, workshops, film screenings and poster sessions on human-wildlife conflict and coexistence - Optionally add pre-conference short courses on 1 March 2027 and the conference dinner on 3 March 2027, both ticketed separately at your own cost **Key dates:** - Travel grant applications opened 1 September 2026 - Applications close 31 October 2026 at 23:59 GMT - All applicants notified of the outcome by 15 November 2026 - Early bird registration rates run until 15 September 2026 - Pre-conference short courses and side meetings on 1 March 2027 - Conference runs 2 to 4 March 2027 at the Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel - Travel grant cash is handed over in person in Bangkok on 3 March 2027 **More information:** - Registration fees, what they include and the refund policy are set out on the conference registration page - Thai visa rules and the mandatory Thailand Digital Arrival Card are on the conference visas page - The organisers point to the British Ecological Society travel grant and the SEARCA travel grant as other sources of support - The call for contributions closed on 31 August 2026 after 730 submissions, so a new applicant can no longer submit an abstract to qualify for that priority band - The first conference, held in Oxford in 2023, drew nearly 600 people from 70 countries
