Who can apply

  • Applicant must be a legally registered NGO, not-for-profit or charitable organisation, registered for at least three years in the country where the project will run
  • Must be legally registered in, and run the project in, one of 24 countries: USA, Philippines, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Australia, Bulgaria, Poland, Guatemala, Singapore, Brazil, Romania, Sweden, Malaysia, Spain, Japan, Netherlands, Italy, France, Morocco, Vietnam and South Africa
  • Each project is tagged to a single one of those countries
  • A track record of managing grants of comparable nature, averaging $125,000 or more over the past three years (desirable)
  • At least three years since incorporation as of March 2026 (desirable), and audited financial statements for the last three financial years (desirable)
  • Bylaws must permit purpose-driven and, where relevant, climate action projects
  • The organisation must deliver the project directly; sub-granting HCLTech funds is not allowed
  • The grant cannot be used solely for infrastructure or fixed assets such as land, buildings or vehicles
  • No pending litigation, no blacklisting by any government or donor, no cancelled licence or registration, and no political or religious affiliation of the organisation, its board or employees
