The Education for Climate Coalition, the European Commission's participatory community for climate and sustainability education, is collecting examples of green education projects already running in schools, universities and community settings across Europe. Nine projects, three in each of its three themes, will be chosen by a panel from the Education for Climate Secretariat, made up of EACEA, DG EAC and external experts. Who can apply

  • The green education action must be based in and across any European Education Area country, meaning the EU 27 plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey
  • The project must be started, ongoing or recently completed within the last five years, with concrete implementation actions having happened
  • Open across all formal and informal education levels, to projects of any size, local or international, public or private
  • You must be a verified user on the Education for Climate platform, which means joining one of their onboarding sessions
  • A complete application is BOTH a blog topic in the Education for Climate Day 2026 group AND a filled-in survey. Only complete applications are considered
  • You must own the copyright to all media you submit or hold a licence for it
  • Anyone running a climate or sustainability education project somewhere in the European Education Area: students, teachers, school leaders, youth groups, universities, NGOs, researchers, companies, public institutions, cultural actors and non-formal education providers. What is judged is the project, not the applicant's job title.
