About this opportunity

The Education for Climate Coalition, the European Commission's participatory community for climate and sustainability education, is collecting examples of green education projects already running in schools, universities and community settings across Europe. Nine projects, three in each of its three themes, will be chosen by a panel from the Education for Climate Secretariat, made up of EACEA, DG EAC and external experts. The representatives of those nine get a fully funded visit to Brussels to present their work on the hybrid stage at Education for Climate Day on 22 October 2026.

What you get:

A fully funded visit to Brussels for Education for Climate Day 2026 on 22 October, for representatives of the nine selected projects
A slot on the hybrid stage to present your project and discuss its outcomes
Time with other climate education practitioners from across the European Education Area
Your project written up on the Coalition's community platform

What you'll do:

Pick one of three themes: youth leadership and intergenerational dialogue for climate action, citizenship education and institutional action for sustainability, or GreenComp and envisioning sustainable futures
Post your project as a blog topic in the Education for Climate Day 2026 group on the Coalition platform
Fill in the Annual Call survey on EUSurvey, covering the project, the partners behind it and the GreenComp competences it addresses
If selected, travel to Brussels and present on the hybrid stage on 22 October 2026

Key dates:

Call opened 18 June 2026
Submissions close 6 September 2026
Selection outcome notified at the end of September 2026
Education for Climate Day 2026 on 22 October 2026

Who can apply

The green education action must be based in and across any European Education Area country, meaning the EU 27 plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey
The project must be started, ongoing or recently completed within the last five years, with concrete implementation actions having happened
Open across all formal and informal education levels, to projects of any size, local or international, public or private
You must be a verified user on the Education for Climate platform, which means joining one of their onboarding sessions
A complete application is BOTH a blog topic in the Education for Climate Day 2026 group AND a filled-in survey. Only complete applications are considered
You must own the copyright to all media you submit or hold a licence for it
Anyone running a climate or sustainability education project somewhere in the European Education Area: students, teachers, school leaders, youth groups, universities, NGOs, researchers, companies, public institutions, cultural actors and non-formal education providers. What is judged is the project, not the applicant's job title.

Worth checking yourself

!Your project has to be based in the European Education Area, which is the EU 27 plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey.
!A complete application is two things: a blog post in their Education for Climate Day group AND the survey. Sending only one does not count.
!You have to be a verified user on their platform before you can post, which means attending one of their onboarding sessions first.
!Your project must already be running or recently finished, with real activity behind it. An idea on paper does not qualify.
!They do not spell out what the funded Brussels trip covers beyond the visit itself.

LOT finds and checks opportunities from public sources. Always confirm details on the organiser’s own page before applying.
