The Gold Scholars Program backs incoming college freshmen who are aiming at the careers that people from underserved backgrounds are usually told are unrealistic: founding a company, or working in art, design, fashion, film, literature, media, music, sports, or theater. It is led by Gold House and made possible by Nordstrom. The award is a one-time USD 5,000 scholarship, plus access to Gold Scholars events and a cohort of other scholars. Selection weighs your potential as a creative professional or entrepreneur alongside your demonstrated commitment to supporting and uplifting Asian Pacific cultures and communities. On that last point, be clear about what is and is not being asked. The commitment to Asian Pacific communities is a real selection criterion. Your ethnic background is not. The application asks about ethnicity as an optional question and states in the form that eligibility and selection do not depend on it. Applications close August 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT. The form cannot be saved partway through, so prepare everything before you start.
