Girl Plus Environment (GPE), an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3) building the leadership of young Black and Brown women, girls, femmes and gender-expansive people in the climate movement, is putting mini-grants of $500 to $2,500 directly into the hands of its members. Twenty member-led community projects across the state of Georgia will be funded, from neighbourhood cleanups and climate education workshops to advocacy campaigns and arts-based environmental activations. Grantees also get orientation, coaching, office hours and amplification through GPE's network, and no previous grant experience is required. **What you get:** - A mini-grant of $500, $1,000 or $2,500, depending on the tier you apply for and the strength of your application - Three funding tiers: Advocate at $500 (15 recipients), Organizer at $1,000 (5 recipients), Community Leader at $2,500 (5 recipients) - Funds can cover supplies, educational materials, venue rental, printing, food for participants, transport tied to the project and other approved expenses - GPE orientation and project onboarding, plus coaching and technical assistance during the grant period - Access to GPE staff and office hours, peer learning and networking with other recipients - Your work amplified through GPE's digital platforms and a coordinated statewide climate and conservation campaign **What you'll do:** - Design and run a community-centred environmental or climate activation in Georgia between January and May 2027 - Attend GPE orientation and three virtual recipient meetings across the funding period - Keep records of how the money is spent and track the number of people engaged and the climate or conservation actions your project generates - Document the project through photos, video or stories and submit a final report by June 2027 - Stay engaged with the GPE membership network throughout the grant period **Key dates:** - Applications open September 1, 2026 - Applicant information session September 9, 2026 at 6:30 PM (register via the Zoom link on the programme page) - Applications close September 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern - Award notifications October 16, 2026 - Project period January 1 to May 30, 2027 - Final reports due June 2027 **More information:** - Full request for proposals, funding tiers and a printable copy of the application questions are in the Girlies Green Fund toolkit PDF linked from the programme page - Applications are scored on mission alignment, community need, potential impact, feasibility, environmental action, leadership potential and budget - Questions go to hello@girlplusenvironment.org
