About this opportunity

The Freedom Prize (Prix Liberte) is run by the Normandy Region with the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace in Caen. Each year 24 young people aged 15 to 25 from Normandy, the rest of France and the rest of the world form its international jury, meet for a week in Normandy and choose the three nominees whose fight for freedom goes to a worldwide youth vote. The winner receives 25,000 euros at a ceremony in Caen in June 2027. This call recruits the 2027 jury.

What you get:

A place on a 24-member international youth jury meeting in Normandy, France, from 14 to 20 February 2027
All transport, accommodation, catering and visa costs covered by the organisers
Deliberations facilitated by the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace, with a jury Chairperson sharing their own testimony on freedom and commitment
Visits to sites of Normandy's heritage during the week, including the D-Day landing beaches

What you'll do:

Study every proposal submitted through the Our Freedom Prize 2027 call for nominations
Work through individual and group reflection, research, analysis and debate across several days of deliberation
Choose, with the other jury members and by your own criteria, the three fights for freedom put to the worldwide online vote from 22 March to 30 April 2027
Join video conferences and do preparatory work remotely before arriving in Caen
Submit your own Our Freedom Prize 2027 nomination form, which opens on 1 September 2026, even if after your application
