About this opportunity

Fundación Ama Amoedo is an Argentine foundation working across the Latin American visual arts, and this is the fourth year it has run its open grants call. Ten grants of US$10,000 each go to artists, collectives, art professionals, non-profit organisations and small publishers whose work has a real connection to Latin America. Applying is free, and the money arrives as a single bank transfer to spend on the project you proposed.

What you get:

  • US$10,000, a flat award rather than a ceiling, paid as one undivided bank transfer to an account in the grant holder's own name
  • One of ten grants across four categories: four for Artists, two for Art and Social Engagement, two for Organizations and two for Publications
  • One year from the award to carry out the project, or two years for Publications grants
  • Freedom to combine the grant with other funding, provided those funders' interests do not conflict with the Foundation's
  • Assessment by a jury of three external curators plus one Foundation representative, with no application fee at any stage

What you'll do:

  • Propose one specific project: research or artistic creation, a community arts initiative, an institutional project, or a publication
  • Submit a project description with objectives, an implementation plan and your reasons for applying
  • Attach an itemised budget in Excel or PDF explaining exactly how the funds would be used
  • Attach a CV, plus an artistic portfolio for the Artists category or up to 20 captioned images of past work for the others
  • Sign an agreement with the Foundation before payment, then send reports specifying how the grant was spent

Key dates:

  • Applications opened Monday July 7, 2026
  • Applications close Wednesday September 9, 2026 at 23:59 Uruguay time, the same clock as Buenos Aires
  • Winners announced publicly on November 20, 2026
  • Project delivery periods begin in January 2027

More information:

  • The binding Bases y Condiciones is a four page PDF linked from the programme page in Spanish and English
  • Twenty one FAQs cover eligibility by category, the budget, the jury, confidentiality and payment
  • Questions go to info@fundacionamaamoedo.org

Who can apply

  • You must be over 18. The Bases state this applies in all cases without exception, including the person representing a collective or organisation
  • Your project must hold a significant connection to Latin America through nationality, cultural heritage, and/or the location where the project will take place
  • The project itself may be carried out anywhere in the world, so this is not a residency or a nationality gate
  • You may apply to only one of the four categories per call, and multiple applications inside one category will not be reviewed
  • Each project needs a single named holder who applies, signs the contract with the Foundation and is responsible for delivery
  • The grant holder must have a bank account in their own name or the applying entity's name. The Bases call this an excluding requirement
  • Legal registration or notarial certification is not required for a collective, association, institution or foundation, but evidence of prior professional work is
  • Institutions, organisations and projects with commercial aims are not accepted, and state bodies and state institutions cannot apply
  • Grants are not awarded for personal purposes such as paying debts or legal expenses, nor for fundraising events
  • You cannot apply if you received other support from Fundación Ama Amoedo in the 12 months before this call opened
  • You cannot apply if you hold functional, commercial, contractual or employment ties with the Foundation or provide services to it, or if you are related by blood or affinity to the second degree to Amalia Amoedo or to anyone managing or evaluating the call
  • Artists' grants may fund exhibition production only in non-commercial spaces

Good to know

  • +US$10,000 flat to each of ten recipients, not a ceiling, paid as a single transfer.
  • +Free to apply, confirmed by reading the binding Spanish terms end to end.
  • +Open from age 18 with no upper limit, and you do not need to register a legal entity, even as a collective.
  • +The Latin America connection is broad. Nationality, cultural heritage, where the project happens, its theme, its effect on the regional art scene, or working with a regional institution: any one of these qualifies you.
  • +Your project can be carried out anywhere in the world.
  • +Eight of the ten grants are open to individuals, across Artists, Art and Social Engagement, and Publications.

Worth checking yourself

  • !It closes tomorrow, 9 September, at 23:59 Uruguay time. The application needs a project description, an itemised budget, a CV and a portfolio, so this is not realistically a same-day application.
  • !The Organizations category is for institutions only. Individuals can enter the other three.
  • !There is no upper age limit and past recipients have been established mid-career artists, so you are competing against professionals.
  • !You sign an agreement before the money is paid, and you commit to reporting how you spent it. The Foundation can ask for progress updates for a year afterwards, or two years for Publications.
