About this opportunity

The European Parliament offers two types of paid traineeships. Schuman traineeships are 5-month placements in the Secretariat across various fields like EU policies, finance, law, and communication, available in Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, or liaison offices. MEP traineeships are 6-week to 5-month placements working directly with Members of the European Parliament on tasks they assign. Both provide insight into EU institutions and parliamentary work.

Who can apply

For Schuman traineeships: be aged 18 or over; be nationals of a Member State of the European Union or an accession/candidate country (limited places for other nationalities); hold a full university degree (EQF level 6) or vocational education qualification (EQF levels 3, 4 or 5); have thorough knowledge of one official EU language and very good knowledge of a second; provide an eligible criminal record; not have worked or had traineeship for more than two months in an EU institution; not have carried out a study visit at the Secretariat six months prior. For MEP traineeships: be aged 18 or over; be nationals of EU Member State or accession/candidate country (third country nationals allowed with visa compliance); have obtained secondary-school leaving certificate or equivalent; have thorough knowledge of one official EU language; not be party to employment contract during traineeship; not have had previous traineeship or work with a Member.
