Good to know

  • +Run by the Commonwealth Secretariat with the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and CAF Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean
  • +Deadline, time and timezone stated identically on the programme page, the guidelines and the FAQ
  • +No application fee anywhere in the page, guidelines or FAQ; co-funding not mandatory
  • +Round I funded eight projects with published case studies

Worth checking yourself

  • !Only government bodies can lead an application. Young people, NGOs and companies can take part only as a partner named by a government ministry or agency
  • !Open to all 56 Commonwealth member countries, not worldwide; a country in arrears on its Commonwealth membership obligations is ineligible
  • !The grant is £20,000 to £50,000; £50,000 is the ceiling
  • !Co-funding is not required but makes up 10 percent of the score, so applicants without cash or in-kind contributions start behind
  • !The online form cannot be saved part way; draft in the Word version first
  • !Grant funds normally go to the government lead; a fiscal arrangement paying a partner directly is an exception that must be set up early
