The Ashoka Fellowship identifies and supports the world’s leading social entrepreneurs who are driving systemic change. Selection Criteria: - New Idea: Must introduce a truly innovative solution to a social problem. - Creativity: Demonstrated vision and problem-solving ability. - Entrepreneurial Quality: Commitment to scaling the idea, often over 10 to 15 years. - Social Impact: Potential for nationwide or regional systemic change. - Ethical Fiber: Trusted leadership and integrity. Additional considerations: - Candidates must work full-time on their idea. - Must have a nonprofit legal structure or safeguards if for-profit arms exist. - Must show local connection and deep understanding of the community impacted. - Work must be beyond ideation stage, with proven impact and readiness to scale. - Cannot be affiliated with partisan politics or discriminatory movements.
