A Guatemalan arch rebuilt in Lego at 1:81 scale
Marek Pepin built a Lego model of Santa Catalina's arch in Guatemala and published it on Lego Ideas, where 10,000 supporters would get Lego to try to make it a real set.
At a scale of 1:81, Marek Pepin has rebuilt Santa Catalina's arch in Guatemala out of Lego. He built it in his secondary 5 year, the eleventh, at Polyvalente Le Carrefour in Val-d'Or, and is now at Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue. He went to Guatemala on a humanitarian trip. "I went there for a humanitarian trip, and I loved it," he says.
He loves Lego. So he made his own model of the arch and published it on Lego Ideas, a platform where members of the Lego community post their own builds. Once a project gathers 10,000 supporters there, he says, Lego will try to make it a reality.
“Everyone has memories. Why not share them in a special way?”

"It is the first project that I did for true love with the subject," he says.
The page on Lego Ideas carries photos of the model, his reason for creating it, and where people can support the work. He wants it to become a real set. "I want my work to become real, so everyone can enjoy it like I enjoyed Guatemala," he says.
